Lincolnshire is a rural county on the east coast of England, which is home to over a million people. It enjoys a mild climate with low rainfall, and some of the flattest terrain in the country.

Attractions

The county has various attractions for visitors, from the traditional seaside resort of Skegness with its sandy beaches and rock, to the historical interest of the city of Lincoln with its castle and cathedral.

Natureland Seal Sanctuary
This seal sanctuary combines seal conservation and rescue with entertainment.

Snipe Dales
This country park and nature reserve is in central Lincolnshire, just south-east of Horncastle.

Tattershall Castle
This imposing 15th century red-brick castle is well worth visiting.

40s Re-enactment Weekend at the Lincolnshire Wolds Railway
The Lincolnshire Wolds Railway was taken over for a weekend of World War II re-enactment and 40s nostalgia.

Culture

You can't visit Lincolnshire without soaking in some of the Yellowbelly culture.

The Wolds Words Festival 2006
Louth was the venue for the Wolds Words Festival of reading, writing and performance over the weekend of 19th to the 22nd of October.

40s Re-enactment Weekend at the Glasshouse Café and Craft Shop
The Glasshouse Café and Craft shop was the venue for a 1940s re-enactment on the weekend of the 23rd and the 24th of September.

Towns and Cities

Lincolnshire is relatively sparsely populated, so there are no sprawling cities that go on for miles and miles. Instead the towns and villages have retained something of their unique character and heritage.

Skegness
Skegness is one of the busiest resorts in Lincolnshire during the summer months.

Tetney
This East Lindsey village to the south of Grimsby and Cleethorpes has plenty of natural beauty.

Louth
Louth is an attractive market town on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds.

Tattershall
This village in central Lincolnshire contains one of the county's most impressive castles.

Wildlife and Parks

Red Hill
As a predominantly rural county Lincolnshire has a lot of green spaces which can be good for walking in and taking in the scenery. However, the intensity of agriculture means that wildlife does not necessarily thrive in these conditions.

Tetney Blow Wells
Tetney Blow Wells are a haven for wildlife, although they are rarely open to the public.
